Study using CTFM Published in Nature Communications

A new paper using the correlative optical tweezers-fluorescence microscopy (CTFM) technology has recently been published in Nature Communications. King, Peterman & Wuite show in “Unravelling the structural plasticity of stretched DNA under torsional constraint” that in torsionally constraint DNA concomitant basepair melting and helical unwinding can occur at forces >~50 pN. They also show that an overwound DNA-structure is created at forces >~110 pN. Read the full study here.
