On October 23-25, LUMICKS organized two fruitful workshops on Optical Tweezers-Fluorescence Microscopy & Acoustic Force Spectroscopy at our headquarters in Amsterdam.
The practical hands-on workshops included demonstrations on the latest developments and applications of the C-Trap® and AFS™, given by our application scientists. In addition, the participants performed state-of-the-art single-molecule experiments and conducted single- and multicolor force-fluorescence measurements to investigate DNA repair, mechanics, overstretching and DNA molecular motors.
Next to the practical part, the workshop also included a lecture from Prof. Gijsje Koenderink, head of the group Biological Soft Matter at AMOLF, during which she reviewed the methods they use to investigate the mechanisms underlying the cytoskeleton. She discussed the importance to study biological systems at a smaller level, for which they use the C-Trap®, to fully understand the bigger picture.
